Amanda Maffei is a research fellow at the Department of Historical Studies “Federico Chabod” at the University of Milan, working within the framework of the CLiO – Center for Visual History excellence project. Her scholarly work primarily investigates the political, social and cultural history of the Atlantic revolutionary world in the late 18th century, with a particular focus on the visual culture of French colonial hsitory. Having concluded a joint doctoral program in History at Université Paris 1 and the University of Milan, she is presently undertaking a research project entitled Visualizing social order and political economy over Atlantic: plantations, estate maps and property in French Caribbean (18th-19th century). Concurrently, she maintains a research interest in gender history within colonial spaces. Her recent publications include: “La schiavitù degli antichi paragonata a quella dei moderni”.
