He also teaches a course in Contemporary History at the University of Italian Switzerland in Lugano. After graduating from Trieste in 1987, he received his PhD in 1992 and did postdoctoral research at the University of Turin. From 1996 to 2018, he taught at the University of Siena. He was a visiting professor at the University Paris 8 and \u00c9cole Pratique des Hautes \u00c9tudes. Both a member of the teaching board of the Doctorate in Humanistic Studies at the University of Urbino and of the editorial board of the journal \u201cMemoria e Ricerca\u201d (Il Mulino), he is also co-editor, with Fulvio Conti, of the history series <em>Le ragioni di Clio<\/em> (Pacini) and editor of \u201cParlare di storia\u201d, the Department of Historical Studies\u2019 online journal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His research interests focus mainly on the politics of memory, cultural institutions and processes of nationalization, public uses of urban spaces, and museum representations of history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His publications in the field of <em>visual history<\/em> include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Vedere per credere.
