Simona Turbanti is research fellow of Archiving, Bibliography and Library and Information Science in the Department of Historical Studies at the University of Milan, where she teaches Computer Archiving and Digital Humanities and in the level 2 Digital Humanities Masters.
After a degree in Literature (classical curriculum) and a specialist degree in Book Sciences at the University of Pisa, she obtained a PhD in Documentary Sciences at La Sapienza University of Rome and the national scientific habilitation as associate professor in Italian universities for the competition sector 11/A4, scientific-disciplinary sector M-STO/08-Archivistics, bibliography and librarianship.
As well as collaborating on national and international research projects, she is a member of scientific committees of Italian and international journals, the CRUI Observatory for Open Science, the Commission for the Maintenance, Updating and Dissemination of the Italian Cataloguing Rules and other working groups.
Her main research interests focus on cataloguing theory and techniques, institutional research repositories, scholarly communication, citation analysis, use of bibliometric indicators and altmetrics tools, and peer review.
