Ruggero Pace Gravina is a research fellow in the history of science and technology, a discipline in which he earned his doctorate with a dissertation entitled “Alle origini del Cimento: reti meteorologiche e intellettuali in Toscana alla metà del Seicento.” He was visiting research fellow at the Max Planck Institut for the History of Science in Berlin and at the Facultad de Ciencias Sociales of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, where he conducted research on the development of technology in the Viceroyalty of Peru in the years immediately following its founding. A scholar as well of 17th-century painting, he has a strong interest in the intersections and reflexes between visual arts and the history of science, focusing especially on sources from the early modern period.
