Emanuela Scarpellini is Full Professor of Contemporary History in the Department of Historical Studies at the University of Milan. After her PhD in History of European Society, she continued her studies in the United States in particular, where she received numerous awards and honours: Fulbright, Rockefeller Archive Center, Hagley Center, Smithsonian Institution of Washington, Newcomen Prize and various others.
She was a visiting professor at Stanford University and a Fulbright visiting professor at Georgetown University in Washington. She has lectured in Europe, America and Asia and is founder and director of the MIC (Fashion Image Consumption) Research Center. In 2019, she co-founded the university start-up Authclick on Photography. She has also been Principal Investigator of several international projects, including the 2022 PNRR on Sustainable Luxury, Fashion and Design (MUSA).
Interested in the economic and cultural history of consumption, food and fashion, she has published more than one hundred works including articles and books.
