This volume is the first publication of the Centre for visuaL hIstOry (CLIO), established in 2023 at the Department of Historical Studies of the University of Milan in the context of the project ‘IMAGINeS: Images and History’, financed by the MUR’s Departments of Excellence programme for the period 2023-2027. The essays collected here represent a significant contribution to the advancement of studies on visual culture from a historical perspective, in constant dialogue with the most innovative methodological and theoretical trends.
